POST-TRAVEL: PHOTO SORTING TIME

Nov 14, 2014

I am currently going through thousands of photos taken during 2.5 months in Europe and as much as I hate to admit it, this will probably take me forever! I still also have so many photos from my Europe trip two years ago that I was meant to post but never got round to it. Come to think of it, now is about time to do so =)

To avoid losing our travel photos again, this time I kept all the photos we took during the entire trip on SD cards and only delete them after I have copied everything onto my external as well as upload them to my online photo library each night. I mainly use Flickr to store and share my photos because I can easily access the app on my mobile devices on the go and it is also a great place to backup my photos in case the original file is lost.

Organising the photos according to city/country and identifying places is the easiest part for me while the difficult part is actually the narrow down/selection process. Prior to our Europe trip, I spent a lot of time browsing travel blogs for inspiration and was amazed at how great the places all looked, almost too perfect to be real. I knew majority of those photos had some degree of photoshop/post-editing involved but it was not until I visited certain places in person that I realised the real deal was far from what I had seen in photos. Sure, adding special effects or enhancing colours to a already picturesque sight could make it even more beautiful and charming but I feel sometimes people overdo it and the sight ends up looking unrealistically great, giving people like me (first time visitors) a false expectation of what our travel destination looks like. I don't know how to use Photoshop but I do like photography apps such as Rookie and VSCOcam which are great for when I need to add a bit more life to my photos. My favourite VSCOcam filters are C2 or S2&3 which are great for brightening a dull looking photo taken on an overcast day.

That is all for now..I will be back very soon with more photos =)

AMSTERDAM

May 20, 2014

This post has been sitting in my draft folder for over 2 years! I kept putting it off hoping that the rest of my travel photos would be retrieved from my external drive which suddenly stopped working at the end of our trip. Unfortunately noone was able to fix it so the photos were gone, forgotten and so was this post..until now. DF and I had a short 2 day stay in Amsterdam before catching our next flight to Curacao. I've never been in Europe during summer before so I didn't know what to expect but compared to July in Vietnam when the temperature reaches 38-40 degrees, in Amsterdam it's barely above 17 degrees! Nevermind the temperature, I had a great time exploring the city and since daylight doesn't end until 9.30-10pm we really got to make the most of our time there.

Teatox + Detox

DH and I have both been trying to eat more healthy (we love snacks a bit too much, especially the unhealthy ones) as well as incorporating regular exercise but unfortunately so far we have had more 'cheat' days than we should. Recently I came across SkinnymeTea (SMT) while browsing Instagram and was really intrigued by their 'Teatox' concept. It is basically detoxing but with tea. After doing some online research, I found out that the idea of 'Teatox' has been around for quite some time now and there are mixed opinions about it amongst users/non users. SMT promotes a healthy image which you will be able to achieve by using the tea in conjunction with a healthy eating plan and regular exercise. After weighing the pros and cons, I decided to give Teatox a go and ordered a 28 Day Teatox pack as well as a pack of Acai tea. I am not doing this to lose weight but mainly to see if this tea really help reduce bloating and make me feel more energized. I already am a tea lover (but I do not drink coffee at all) so it will be interesting to see the end results!

Engagement session

May 19, 2014

I was meant to post these engagement photos last September when I got them back from our photographer but did not have a chance to finish the post. We had a great (and rushed!) afternoon running around Sydney CBD for our engagement photo shoot. I finally got to wear my favourite Alice + Olivia one shoulder dress with embellished bodice and fluffy tulle skirt which I got (on sale =D) on my visit to HK back in 2012.

With our Europe trip (aka late honeymoon) only 2.5 months away, I'm going to try my best to get into a regular posting habit so that I can document our trip on a daily (or at least, weekly) basis. No doubt we will constantly be moving from place to place, there will be so much to take in and since I probably won't remember everything, I will have to rely on these blog posts to remind me in the future.

Wedding photo diary coming up next!

Black and gold

Little White Lies dress / Charlotte Olympia Kitty flats (this is also cute)/ Valentino Rockstud Lock shoulder bag / Kenneth Jay Lane ring

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia was last week and this year, there was also a Weekend Edition (tickets available to the public) to view collections just days after Fashion Week wrapped up. I really enjoyed the runway which showcased all designer collections in just 30 minutes but because there are so many designers, we only got to see a few selected pieces from each collection.

The weather has been terrible in Sydney these past few weeks. It rained almost everyday and unusual cold for April so I guess winter is near. I got this black dress by Little White Lies from ASOS a couple months ago when it went on sale and the weather was finally cool enough for me to wear it out last Saturday. I chose to wear my Kitty flats for comfort instead of heels (too slippery!) and paired with my favourite Valentino lock bag. This bag comes in so many colour combinations it's tough to pick just one. I'm thinking of getting one in a bright colour but not sure which yet. How pretty is this pink one though?

Easter is only a few days away. Can't wait for the long weekend to be here already!! xx
